Your first taste of the world map, your first Djinni and your third party member, Ivan.
The world map
- Leaving Vale puts you on the world map. Walk a little south and a small creature pops up: it’s a Djinni, and it joins you on the spot — Flint.
- Flint explains how Djinn work in battle. It’s worth reading: Djinn are the heart of Golden Sun’s combat.
- Follow the road south to the next village, Vault.
Vault
- As you arrive, a line of wagons hurries out of town.
- Find Ivan in the house at the top left of town. He can read minds, and he asks for help recovering the Shaman’s Rod, which thieves stole from his master.
- Go into the Inn and head upstairs. The two thieves are there, but they won’t talk.
- Try to leave and Ivan suggests cornering them: he blocks one side while you chase them toward him. Do it and you can finally question them.
- Leave the inn and climb the stairs on its outside wall up to the roof, then drop through the hole.
- Push the crate aside with Move to get into the thieves’ hideout, then beat them. Ivan gets his staff back.
On to Goma Cave
- Leave Vault and head east on the world map. Cross the bridge over the river and then, a little further north, a second bridge (also heading east) that leads to a cave in the mountains: Goma Cave.
- At the entrance, hop across the river and climb up by pushing the wooden pillars into place.
- You reach a stump wrapped in ivy. Try Move on it: it won’t budge, but Ivan shows up, frees it with Whirlwind and joins your party for good.
- Now Move the stump to the left so it drops, then cast Whirlwind on the bush to open the cave entrance.
