Kol is under attack, and the monster behind it, Spiketail, is a real step up: it speeds itself up, heals and calls for help. Beating it earns you the Ultimate Key, which opens every remaining lock. As with the other keys, take a full lap before moving on — this one includes Erdrick’s Shield, the two sigils the Faeries couldn’t make last time and a medal trade worth two very strong weapons.

Boss
Where
Spiketail
Kol, north part of town.
Boss: Spiketail
In Kol, go west and save with the priest. The item shop is locked; walk north to trigger the attack.
Set up before the fight:
Equip the Dragon Shield from the Monarch. It has less defence than the Ogre Shield, but it cuts breath damage, and breath is most of what Spiketail does.
Wear your best armour — Erdrick’s if you have it.
Keep the Swallowtail boomerang in your bag alongside your main weapon.
Move
What it does
How to handle it
Attack
About 60 damage.
Heal at around 200 HP.
Inferno
Breath, about 75 damage.
The Dragon Shield reduces it.
Accelerate
Gives it two actions per turn.
This is when it gets dangerous: don’t gamble on low HP.
Calls Dragonflies
Two join the fight, about 40 damage each.
Wipe them with the boomerang (below).
Multiheal
Heals itself about 75 HP.
Out-damage it with Wild Side.
Kabuff
Raises the defence of itself and its Dragonflies.
Keep using Dragon Slash.
Keep Wild Side active the whole fight. With it, you act twice per turn — the only way to keep pace once Spiketail accelerates.
Attack with Dragon Slash (two hits of around 120–150 under Wild Side). When the Dragonflies appear, switch to the Swallowtail and attack normally: two boomerang hits clear both before they move. Then switch back to your main weapon.
When your HP falls to about 200, cast Moreheal. With Wild Side that’s two big heals in one turn. Take your time; greed is what loses this fight.
Afterwards, a scene ends with the Ultimate Key in your hands.
Tantegel, Rimuldar and the dwarves
Tantegel town:
Upstairs in the church, open the cell: a Spider Web in the barrel and a Mini Medal in the pot.
Upstairs in the house right of the church, the last chest has a Hextract.
Inside the castle, four chests on the west side of the ground floor hold 12,000 gold, an Elfin Elixir, the Headsman’s Axe and the Snoop Scroll. Only take them now if Gwaelin is safely at home.
Rimuldar: enter the church building from the west and go up to the prisoner. The pot in his cell has a Sage’s Elixir.
Cave of the Dwarves: warp there, cast Evac to get outside and walk back in. Go west to the last locked door; the chest behind it has a Mini Medal.
The Faerie Village: the last sigils
Go to the workshop and hand over the Undying Flame and the Stardust. You receive the Sun Sigil (better critical hit rate) and the Star Sigil (you recover MP when you defend). That’s all five, and a trophy/achievement.
The door on the left now opens: a chest with a Sage’s Elixir, and a Seed of Stamina in the bag beside the bed.
The chest down the well has the Mask of Implacability: huge defence, but it’s cursed and leaves you permanently confused. Not for wearing.
You never explored east of the inn. Cross the large poison swamp (Erdrick’s Armour makes it harmless) to a Secret Spot on the far side. The barrel in the middle has Twitching Powder; the ground behind the big rock to its south-west has 8,803 gold.
Just north, a sparkle in a small forest: a Prayer Ring and Anti-Freeze Earrings.
Cantlin and Weeping Isle
Cantlin: upstairs in the north-east building, the chest has a Mini Medal. Zalen is by the ponds in the middle of town; talk to him for a short scene. He mentions heading back to Galenholm.
Weeping Isle: go back to the top of the Exterior and open the grey chest: Erdrick’s Shield.
It has less defence than the Ogre Shield but reduces damage from spells and breath, which matters more from here on.
Then go to where you fought the Dragonflies. Three branches start there:
Left: a chest that’s a Mimic (it drops a Sage’s Elixir), and pots and barrels with an Ice Shield, a Rousing Ring and a Rabbit Tail.
North: two chests, Garish Garb and the Pirate King’s Pendant.
Right: a chest with a Ruby Wristband, plus a Copper Sword and Oomph Powder in a barrel and a pot.
On the way back, stop at the valley Secret Spot south of the island and open the chest behind the other three: an Agility Ring.
The Monarch of Medals
At the Citadel, open the two chests you couldn’t before, one in each group at the top of the hall: a Mini Medal and the Demon Whip. The whip is cursed and can paralyse you, so leave it in the bag.
Hand in your medals. You should have 31, enough for the Scourge Whip (25) and the Saviour’s Staff (30). Both outclass everything you’ve found so far; the staff is the stronger single-target weapon, the whip hits whole groups.
When you’re ready, go to Galenholm, through the red-door building and out of its left side, to the end of the walkway: the Grave of Galen.
