Phase 3: the tower lab and Melted Fat

Why the lab comes before the battle: the barricades need oiled planks, and oil means Melted Fat.

From your basement you can reach Albert, the Plague Doctor, and his alchemy lab in the Abandoned Tower. The lab is where you build the Distillation Cube — and early on, that cube is the only source of Melted Fat. The barricades Herbert needs in Phase 4 are built from oiled planks, which need that fat. So the lab comes first.

Reaching the tower

  1. In your basement, clear the blockage towards the doctor with 3 Bronze Details + 3 Wooden Planks (Pickaxe, Building 3). This locked underground room isn’t the lab itself.
  2. Speak to the doctor through his door; he hands over the Secret combination.
  3. Go upstairs and outside to the Abandoned Tower. At its locked entrance choose Open the door, carrying the combination and your Inquisitor’s medallion (by hand, Building 1).
  4. Once inside, lift the hatch so the Plague Doctor can come up, then choose Dream Dust.. That conversation teaches Alchemy, Basic, adds 10 Albert reputation and opens Sweet Dreams. A Study Table, a Laboratory I and a Flask shelf are already in the room.

The Distillation Cube and Melted Fat

  1. Research Alchemy, Distillation (5 red, 5 green). From the lab’s building desk, place the Distillation Cube: Wooden Plank x2, Bronze Detail x2, Brick x12, finished with a Hammer at Building 2.
  2. Get Fat from autopsies: put a body on the autopsy table, select the fat, confirm and finish the job, then pick it up. Bodies differ — not every one has everything.
  3. In the cube: Fat x1 + Clay Plate x2 + Fuel x20 → Melted Fat x4 (Anatomy 1). Make the plates on the potter’s wheel as before.

Sweet Dreams

  1. Every mix uses one alchemy flask per result. Make them with Glass and Glass Blowing: in the furnace, Sand x3 + Fuel x10 → Glass x3, then Glass x2 + Fuel x10 → 2 flasks (Smithing 2). Dig Sand with a shovel (Building 3) west of Riverside or southeast of the Vineyard.
  2. Dream Dust needs one green and one blue rune; the simple single-ingredient options are Ash or Peat. Research the ingredient first so it appears in the mixing menu. Ash is only sold (Apothecary); for Peat, research Fertilizers I (10 green) and build a Compost Pile in the garden (Board x2, Stick x12).
  3. Bring one Dream Dust to Albert and choose Check the Dream Dust. You get 10 reputation with Albert, a Story I and Alchemist’s Clothes; this also starts Chasing Fairy Lights. Follow him down through the hatch to his underground lab.
  4. Sleep. Next morning Larry points you to a sealed room near the morgue: open the Resurrection Room with Bronze Detail x1 + Melted Fat x1 (by hand, Building 1). Open the chest inside and close it before leaving — its notes name the Necronomicon.
  5. Repair the room’s power switch with Bronze Detail x1 + Wooden Plank x2 (Building 3). That reveals Reanimation (30 red, 10 green, 10 blue; needs Alchemy, Distillation and Skull and Teeth), which unlocks the Resurrection Table I and the Bronze Zombie Collar.
