The ship drops you at the docks west of the Town of Lucent, a town full of odd requests. After a few quiet days, the first case of soulwalking sends the party into the Cursed Woods after the person responsible. The woods are blocked by brambles you clear by defeating the Boulbes that grow them, and they end with a new party member joining. The Haunted Creek fishing spot is nearby. Three Lucent chests need the Graplou from the next chapter; they stay listed here.

The Lucent docks
- The landing spot has a camp and a save point. Walk right, pick the onion plant and keep going right into the first fight.
| New enemy | What to know |
|---|---|
| Woodland Spirit | Vanishes and reappears next to a character for a spirit attack. |
| Lonzon | Its charged Chomp, Chomp hurts one character and heals the Lonzon by half the damage. Kill it first and break that charge. |
- Patch up if needed and keep heading right, but visit the pit below before moving on: it has a mushroom patch and, tucked under the log on its right, a chest with a Rainbow Conch.
- On the north side of the pit, where light falls in, is a half-hidden cave. Its chest is a mimic: beat the monsters that jump out and the Calcite Lid, a weapon for Garl, is yours.
- Climb back out, cross the pit (another onion plant on the way) and win one more fight to reach the town.
The Town of Lucent
- The painting brothers:
- Go into the house on the left and speak to the woman there. When you reach for her chest, the painting on the wall takes it away until his brother makes amends.
- The brother hangs in the doorless house further north. Follow the stone path to its end and slip in through the opening in the wall’s right-hand side.
- He confesses he ate his brother’s Berry Jam. If you have none, cook some at a camp outside town; if your meal slots are full, eat something in a fight first.
- Hand it over, and the first painting gives up the chest: a Rainbow Conch.
- The house on the right has nothing of note, but four tomato plants grow beside it.
- The building north of the fountain is the inn. After the conversation there you can change the music, and you can play Wheels; beating the championship match here earns the Bronze Wheel.
- Left of the inn is the shop.

- In the southwest, jump over the wall for two potato plants, and two lettuce plants further north. A man wandering around here wants a Turbo Cookie: you’ll find one later.
- Cross the bridge to the east side. The shed the children talk about needs an item you don’t have yet. South of it a man is chopping wood: jump into the water there, swim north and climb out on the northeastern bank for a chest with a Rainbow Conch.
- When you’re done, tell the innkeeper you want to rest. Several days pass, and then the first real case of soulwalking happens. The party sets off to help, and the Captain follows.
- On the world map you can visit the Haunted Creek fishing spot; the place the story needs is the Cursed Woods.
Haunted Creek
- Three new fish live here, all easy to land: Spectral Eel, Ghosturgeon and Bone Pike. Catch one of each; there’s nothing else at this spot.
Cursed Woods: the first brambles
- The woods are dark from the start. The new enemy here is the Arentee, which attacks with a single bouncing leap or by sliding along the ground at you. Woodland Spirits now charge a Group Heal that drags fights out, so break it whenever you can.
- Clear the first group and walk on, picking Berries. Further north is a save point, and beyond it a wall of brambles you can’t pass until you defeat whatever is growing it.
- Go left to the next fight. The culprit is a Boulbe, which fires spikes very quickly; defeating it makes the brambles wither.
- Pick the two potato plants to the south, then head north: a mushroom patch and a fight with a crowd of zombies.
- Go right along the path through the trees, heal, and climb the cliff. Another Boulbe and its allies wait there; beating them opens the way again, and there are potatoes to collect.
- Follow the roots north (another mushroom patch) to the next fight. Afterwards, take the path southwest into a cave: after one more small fight, the chest inside has a Rainbow Conch.
- Back on the previous screen, continue north to a camp and save point. Use both.
Cursed Woods: the two branches
- Past the camp the path splits, and a big wall of brambles blocks the way north. Both branches have a Boulbe to defeat.
- The left branch is a straight walk ending in a fight with a Boulbe and its allies. Afterwards, two grain plants and a chest with Obsidian Ore are just north.
- From there, drop down to the right and head northwest: hidden away is a Solstice Shrine, and its chest holds a Shimmering Shard (+15% damage against undead).
- The right branch is short and ends in a similar fight. Open the chest there for Bone Armor.
- With both Boulbes gone, return to the fork and go north through the caves; there’s nothing to pick up inside.
The assassin and the Captain
- You catch up with the person you were chasing, and the scenes that follow turn serious quickly.
- At the end, the Mysterious Assassin joins the party, with poison, blade and bash skills. That poison is what finally breaks the poison locks you’ve been seeing, but there’s no healing in that kit.
- Follow the path. It runs along the river on the right side of the map, with a few fights; heal between them as needed.
- After the second fight, keep following the water to a patch of mushrooms. A third fight comes next, and potatoes grow just after it.
- You come back out near the start of the woods (save if you like). Continue to town for more scenes: the Captain is formally introduced as Serai.
- She has a plan to save Garl, but there isn’t much time. The goal is the Ferryman’s Dock east of town.
- Head east: Chapter 8.
