The Sky Base’s AI Core is beyond the party, so you head back to your own world to ask the children of Clockwork Castle for help. On the way you can pick up a third Data Strip, and at the castle you can buy a portable Wheels table. Then it’s time for this world’s Dweller: the Dweller of Dread, at the bottom of the Infinite Abyss. Beating it unlocks a new way to travel, and with it the rest of the game opens up.
Checklist
| Chest | Where | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| Sea of Stars station chest | The fast-travel station north of the Sea of Stars, reached by teleporter and speed ball on the way home. | Data Strip |
| Boss | Where |
|---|---|
| Dweller of Dread | Bottom of the Infinite Abyss, inside the sunken moon. |
The way home
- Your goal is the children in Clockwork Castle, back in your home world.
- Travel with a teleporter and the speed-ball network to the station near the Sea of Stars. A chest there holds a Data Strip — the third of the four you need for Repine’s locked room (Chapter 21).
- From the station the way back to your own world is short.
Clockwork Castle and the Artificer
- Head to the castle; there’s a shortcut on the right side of the dock. A long chain of scenes plays.
- When you’re free to move, go back in and check on the children for another set of scenes. They end with a new companion — and cargo — joining you: the Artificer, who is bound to the castle by its curse.
- Find the Watchmaker again; for 250 gold she sells you the Deployable Wheels Table.
- Take the Artificer to the Sky Base. More scenes follow, and with the Artificer’s help the party finally gets past the AI Core.
Into the Infinite Abyss
- The next story goal is the Dweller. Go now: the reward for beating it changes how you explore. Prepare first, and pack plenty of food.
- The Dweller lives in the moon under the sea. Sail there — the Sea of Stars waystation is the nearest point — and enter the ???.
- You arrive on an underwater world map. Go west and enter the Infinite Abyss.
- Inside there are no enemies and no items: just keep heading down until the boss fight begins.
Boss: Dweller of Dread
| Move | What it does | How to handle it |
|---|---|---|
| Needle Shot | A tentacle hovers over one character and fires spines, about 50 damage. | Block; only one target. |
| Tentacle Slap | A tentacle slaps down on one character for 45–50. | Block on impact. |
| Tentacle Grab | A tentacle seizes a character and holds them out of the fight. | Break its lock quickly to get them back. |
| Dread Stare | The Dweller’s charge. If it lands, you fight a one-on-one duel against one of your own party, controlling the last character you used. Your ally only uses basic attacks and takes no real harm. | Break it if you can; otherwise win the duel with boosted attacks. |
| Mouth Grab | Its basic move: it swallows the whole party and shakes everyone around about three times, 25–40+ damage each. | Keep everyone healed; Lunar Shield matters less in this phase. |
- The descent:
- The fight starts with two waves of two tentacles each, four in total.
- Lunar Shield blocks everything the tentacles do, so keep it up during this part.
- As with every Dweller, only skills and boosted attacks do real damage. The tentacles count as part of the boss.
- Spend combos here to build the Ultimate gauge, but save the Ultimate itself for the main body.
- At the bottom:
- The Dweller brings tentacles with it, and they come back at half health after you destroy them.
- While tentacles are out, use hit-all skills such as Dash Strike or Moonerang, or Valere’s or Zale’s Ultimate, which nearly or fully wipes them.
- Against single targets, boosted attacks and the combo Moon Shiv are excellent here.
- Keep HP high and let the Magic Pocket make the first item free.
- Neither of the Dweller’s own attacks is very threatening, and the fight is easier than its build-up suggests.
- After the battle, the scenes reveal your new way to travel: the party can now fly. That opens the whole world for a final round of exploring — continue with Chapter 25.
