Wolf Rock is a dark maze. Large crystals light up each area when you touch them, white walls can be grappled, and the way forward is blocked three times by locks that need a bridge key found somewhere nearby. The puzzles mix pushable blocks, floor tiles and, later on, a portable generator. At the top the Feral Queen is waiting, and the fight ends with Valere facing her alone.

The first cave and the star blocks

  1. There’s a shop and a campfire just to the right of where you arrive. Save here.
  1. Go right, up the ledges and into the cave. The white walls inside can be grappled. Cross the gap, leave the cave, turn left outside, then go down and back into the mountain. Drop through the hole into a small pool.
  2. Climb out to the north and touch the big crystal: the whole area lights up.
  3. Go right and grapple to the white wall where a floor tile lies. Don’t take it yet. Walk down the platform to the south and jump off into a fight; afterwards there’s a chest with a Milkshake and some Corn.
  4. Grapple back north, climb the wall and now lift the tile. Take the upper-left path back to the start, go south, put the tile down and drop through.
  5. Touch the crystal here and go south for Milk. To the right are two blocks with a star on them.
  6. The star blocks:
    1. Blow both blocks left and then down with your wind.
    2. Put the upper one on the marked square to the west; that makes the ground to the east sink.
    3. Move the lower one up and right, past the sunken ground, and leave it there.
    4. Return to the block sitting on the marked square and shove it right, then down. Stand on it and hop over onto the grated floor to the east, which lifts the bone gate. This step is easy to overlook.
    5. Step off, return to the block you left on the right and push it down, through the gate and onto the platform below. A grapple point appears.

The recipe and the hanging island

  1. Grapple across and keep going right. Light the crystal and win the fight. There’s a marked spot for a floor tile here, and another one to the north, on the right.
  2. Take the Milk and follow the upper-left path up the wall to a rope ladder. Kick it down and climb down: you’re back above the first pool. Take the floor tile from its lower-left corner.
  3. Climb back up the rope ladder, return to where the Milk was and set the tile down on the right. It leads to a chest with the Recipe: Milkshake.
  4. Lift the tile again, carry it south and put it down to move on. In the flooded area beyond, wolves attack.
  5. A little further south there are two marked spots for a ladder, left and right. Keep going south first, climb down the ladder there and lift it with the Mule Drone.
  6. Grapple to the white wall on the right and climb. Set the ladder on either side and, from the top, cross the rope to the small island hanging on a chain in the middle.
  7. Dropping the island:
    1. Pull out the two nails on the island’s ground; the lower ropes come loose.
    2. Cross one of the upper ropes, pull that nail, then cross to the other side and pull the last one.
    3. Don’t jump down. From the upper-left corner, where a nail was, climb the northern wall.
    4. Make your way to the top-right corner, then walk off the end of the platform. Landing on the island sends it crashing down, and it smashes a hole in the floor beneath.

The underground river

  1. Dive into the whirlpool and follow the underwater passage until you can climb out. Touch the crystal, then open the chest on the left for Aerialist’s Wraps.
  2. Head right, climb the vines and jump into the river. Let it carry you, fall off its side and keep following it right until you’re out of the water. Climb the ledges to the combo skill Galette des Rois.
  3. Take the next whirlpool down. In the dry room below, go left and beat the wolves.
  4. Keep going left and watch the bottom edge of the screen: there are white vines leading up. Before taking them, continue left to a shop, a save point and a chest with Arcforge Plating.

The first bridge key and Time Rune VIII

  1. Climb those white vines. A big lock appears on the right. Follow the path northwest into a cave to find the Bridge Key, then come back and use it: a bridge forms.
  2. Over the bridge is another cave. Swing over the gap, scale the walls, swing east and look on the south side for a chest with Caramel Corn x2.
  3. Go to the far right and down the ledges. At the bottom, before heading right, grapple to the white wall on the left and enter the small cave behind it: there’s a clock machine.
  4. The crate puzzle:
    1. Climb the wall to the north. There are four platforms, two on each side, and each one has its own grapple point and lever.
    2. Press the button on the north side. It shows you the crate you have to move, which starts in the upper left, and the reward waiting in the upper right.
    3. The goal is to get the crate across to the upper right. Each lever turns its platform; set them so every platform faces the crate’s path.
    4. You only have a few seconds once the crate starts, so grapple from lever to lever as fast as you can. It may take a few tries.
  1. Getting it across earns Time Rune VIII.

The collapsing floors and the generator room

  1. Back out of the cave, scale the wall and work your way east down the ledges into the next room, where you’re attacked on arrival. A scene follows the fight.
  2. Climb the ledge to the north and then two walls, and fight another pack of wolves.
  3. The lower part of this floor trembles as you walk on it, a sign it can break. Go up the eastern ledges, swing over to the vines on the west, climb all the way and leap south off the wooden beam. You crash through several floors, and the wreckage leaves a platform at the bottom that leads up to the cave in the top-right corner.
  4. You come out in the open. Take the Sugar and go south to the small puddle for a chest with Barbapapa x3.
  5. Drop off the right edge and beat the enemies below. Climb the ledges and the wall, grapple across and enter the next room.
  6. This room introduces the generator, a power source you carry with the Mule Drone. Where you set it down decides what switches on, so it moves around a lot:
  7. The generator room:
    1. Go north, lift the floor tile and set it on the right to reach some Milk. Then carry the tile south to the entrance and put it down there.
    2. Lift the generator. The door tries to close but the tile stops it. Carry the generator north and set it down: a bridge appears.
    3. Cross, push the block up there south over the bridge, then lift the generator so the bridge disappears.
    4. Push the block north to the edge where the bridge was, climb onto it and grapple across, still carrying the generator.
    5. The stairs to the north lead to a slot for it. Leave it empty for now: hop down, go up the vines and drop off their western side onto a block, then shove it down.
    6. Shove the wooden box in the lower-left corner up, then right, until it bumps the block and leaves it under the pipe in the wall. After that, move the block down, right and up, so it ends in front of the second pipe.
    7. Climb the vines, fetch the generator and put it in the slot. Jump into the water, climb onto the wooden box and get out.
    8. Go south and set the generator down to raise a grapple point. Climb the ladder on the left to open a way back for the generator, then place it on the south side and leave.

Wolf, moon and star

  1. The north wall of the next room shows three symbols: wolf, moon, star. The platforms to the south carry the same symbols, and you cross by stepping on them in that repeating order: wolf, moon, star, wolf, moon and so on.
  1. Reaching the far side is easy, but there are items off the main route. Start by stepping on any platform that isn’t a wolf so you fall into the pit on purpose.
  2. Clear the enemies down there and go south for a big pile of items, with Butter to the north. Then climb back up.
GoalRoute
The SugarFrom the middle wolf platform: down, left, left, down, down, right, down, down.
The Fruity RollOn the right side of the chasm, start on the wolf platform at the north end and go right all the way.
The exitStart from the moon platform to the south: up (to safety), up (back on the moon to reset), down (to safety), left, down, down, down, down, left, down.

The second key and the pillars

  1. Back outside is the second lock. Its key is nearby: swing across the grapple point to the east, scale the wall where it ends and take the ladder all the way down. The room to the west has a fight, and the key waits at the top of the ledges in its corner.
  2. Back outside, climb down the ladder on the right and ride the water jet up. Grapple left, use the key and cross the new bridge.
  3. The next room has two pillars, one for a slot on the left and one for a slot on the right.
  4. Pushing the pillars:
    1. Right pillar: down.
    2. Left pillar: right, then down.
    3. The pillar that’s now lowest: left, up, right, down, right.
    4. The pillar on the left: left.
  5. With both in position, pull out the block in the upper right to make a staircase. Before going up, push both pillars up to raise them, then move each one into its slot. The central door opens.
  6. In the next room, grapple from white wall to white wall. After the wooden beam, open the chest with a Milkshake.
  7. Go through the next room to get back outside, and turn right at once for a chest with Grand Marvel’s Regalia.

The third key

  1. Go left, beat the enemies, climb the vines and enter the cave on the right. Follow it, picking up Butter on the way, until you reach the third lock.
  2. Finding the key:
    1. From the lock, head west and drop to the lowest part of the room. Smash the floor there to expose a jet that blows you back up.
    2. Keep heading west: scale the wall, hop down, collect the Butter and go through to the room beyond.
    3. Touch the crystal, grapple over the gap and climb the wall all the way round to a button. Pressing it raises a wall by the key.
    4. Go back and climb up that wall for a chest with the Leeching Circlet. Then climb down and take the key.
  3. Leave the room, go right, drop down and open the third bridge. In the room beyond, the Feral Queen appears. After the scene Valere runs away, so you carry on with just two party members for a while.
  1. The next room is a straight path ending in a fight, and after it there’s a campfire and a save point. Rest, save, then climb the ladder into the next room for a scene and the boss.

Boss: Feral Queen

MoveWhat it doesHow to handle it
Normal attackHits one character for about 25.Block it.
Buiss RouletteShe hides in one of seven bushes. If you pick the wrong one, she hits a party member for about 55.Skills and combos are locked during this move, so you can’t hit every bush at once. Choose one and have healing ready.
Full MoonHits the whole party several times, about 35 in all.Break as many locks as you can, or heal straight after.
  1. She’s easier than the Narcis King. The main job is to stop her charged moves before they land, so keep breaking her locks.
  1. Don’t spend all the energy that gathers in the arena: save some to power up attacks when a charged move needs breaking fast. Keep the combo gauge fairly full too, because one of her moves has a lock of four laser and four magic hits and Heap Frog clears it quickly.
  1. Near the end the fight stops and turns into a one-on-one between her and Valere. Use Trapèze or Lunebo to interrupt her attacks; it needs good timing, but it’s manageable.

Leaving Wolf Rock

  1. After the scene, a way down opens. Climb down the vines, save if you want, go down the ladder, left, down more vines, left again and down another ladder.
  1. Leave Wolf Rock and ride back to Horloge for a series of scenes. The story now heads for its finale; the leftover extras in town can wait until the DLC is finished.
  2. Take the train from town to the north, up the mountain, and get off at Big Top Station: DLC chapter 7.
