The last of the three split-up trips belongs to Valere and Resh’an, who head into the volcano soon to be known as Kiln Mountain. The dungeon is built around big stone spheres you push with the Mistral Bracelet to smash thin floors and magma rocks. Don’t skip the last chest: the Magic Pocket is one of the most useful accessories in the game. A boss waits at the crater.

| Kiln Mountain chest 2 | Magma-rock area: up the ramp to the west, behind magma rocks you break with the first sphere. | Rainbow Conch |
| Kiln Mountain chest 3 | While clearing the way north with the rolling sphere, climb the wall on the east side. | Volcanic Armor |
| Kiln Mountain chest 4 | Big lava-pool room: after the ambush, crawl into the hole the BigBuggy burrowed out of. | Magic Pocket |

|---|---|
| Kiln Mountain conch | Kiln Mountain chest 2, behind the first patch of magma rocks. |

Into the volcano
- Heal and save if you like, gather the Mushrooms in the corner and walk into the mountain. The tunnel winds down several flights of stairs to the first fight.
- The Firecracker:
- Valere’s moon skills don’t exploit any weakness on it, sadly.
- Its normal move is a leaping slash.
- The horn on its head blinks faster the more you hit it. If it’s still alive on its next turn, it burrows, pops up beside a character and explodes. Block when it lands.
- Keep descending, then scale down the rock face into the next section. Drop into the hole and look below you as you fall: there’s a chest down there.
- Use the small geysers to blast yourself back up to it: Igneous Staff, for Valere.
- Drop down again and carry on until you reach a cracked, thin floor. Climb the wall on the east to find a big stone sphere and push it west with the Mistral Bracelet. It rolls down the ramp and smashes through.
- Follow it down. At the bottom, go west first for Mushrooms, then head east into the next fight.
- BigBuggies drill across the floor and strike one character twice. Their charge pounds the ground and raises stalagmites under the whole party.
- Continue east, climb the wall and take the Mushrooms. Grapple across a chain of platforms to another BigBuggy fight, then cross the wooden beams to the next area.
The magma rocks
- Save here, then go east. Small magma rocks cover the ground and block the paths; only a rolling sphere can break them.
- Go up and take the first turn west. Follow it to a sphere and send it straight through the magma rocks: behind them is a chest with a Rainbow Conch.
- A second sphere waits to the north — this one opens the way. Push it south through the rocks and down the ramp; it launches itself off to the east.
- Go east after it and keep pushing it north to carve a path. Partway along, climb the wall on the east side for a chest with Volcanic Armor.
- At the northern end, defeat the Firecrackers and go on to the next area.
The pillars and the Magic Pocket
- A fight starts as you enter the open area. Afterwards, push the three stone pillars to the east with the bracelet to clear a path — no real puzzle.
- Cross the platforms and scale the wall where a Firecracker stands. Heading north up there, it attacks along with other enemies.
- Before you touch the sphere here, crawl into the hole the BigBuggy burst out of. A hidden chest holds the Magic Pocket.
- Now roll the sphere down the ramp. It breaks the wall, water floods in and cools the lava into a platform you can cross.
- Follow the path to a campfire, a save point and a merchant (you probably need nothing). Ride the geysers to the very top for a short scene and the boss.
Boss: Toadcano
| Move | What it does | How to handle it |
|---|---|---|
| Lava Spit | Basic attack: a glob of lava at one character, about 20 damage. | Block on impact. |
| Summon Firecracker | Calls Firecrackers into the fight: two early on, four once the boss is close to death. | Mostly ignore them, but always be ready to block their explosions. |
| Tremor | Charged: it sinks into the lava and spits magma chunks into the air in pairs. 40–45 damage to both characters even with good blocks — and it hits the Firecrackers too. | Track each pair and block as it lands. |
- The Firecrackers keep coming for the whole fight, so killing them is mostly wasted effort. Their self-destruct can arrive at any moment; block each one as it lands.
- Because of those constant explosions, Lunar Shield isn’t worth its cost here.
- Pour Valere’s moon magic into the toad itself. Let Resh’an heal when needed, and feed him MP items — the Magic Pocket makes those free.
- Use your combo whenever it’s ready to charge the Ultimate gauge, then unleash Resh’an’s.
- After the battle comes a long series of scenes, the payoff of Garl’s plan. The story picks up in Chapter 21: The Sea of Stars.
